CAVA DAY 2014

On Friday, October 24, 2014 we held the first edition of the Cava day. The initiative, promoted by Confindustria Bergamo’s Gruppo Tecnologie e Materiali per l’edilizia, was aimed at introducing the students and teachers of the secondary schools of the province of Bergamo to the mineral extraction industry of the area. Some important companies of the province opened their doors to highlight the peculiarities of the production processes in the quarry, the characteristics of natural materials and their many applications.

The following companies have participated in the initiative, opening their mining sites to the students of the following schools:

-Cava dell’Isola Srl – Medolago
-Granulati Zandobbio Spa – Zandobbio
-Italcementi Spa – Cava di Calusco d’Adda
-Marini Marmi Srl – Castro
-Nuova Demi Spa – Cava di Brembate
-Scavi Pesenti Srl – Covo

The schools which visited the mining sites listed above, involving more than 400 students, were:

-Istituto di istruzione superiore “DECIO CELERI” of Lovere
-Istituto di istruzione superiore “SIMONE WEIL” of Treviglio

-Istituto industriale di stato “FANTONI” of Clusone
-Istituto tecnico per geometri “G. QUARENGHI” of Bergamo
-Liceo Artistico “GIACOMO E PIO MANZÙ“ of Bergamo
