Testa Battista & C. Spa was founded by Battista Testa as a sole proprietorship in March 1955 in Ghisalba.
Starting from its initial business, as a specialist of the transport of sand and gravel for third parties, the company soon expanded its operations, becoming a production company of aggregates mainly quarried from the river Serio, in accordance with the regulations in force at the time. The first aggregates processing site is located in an area along the river, near the bridge on the Francesca provincial road and that plant remained in operation until the beginning of the 2000s.
Subsequent developments in the regulations governing mining, characterized by precise and unambiguous restrictions on the harvesting of alluvial material from streams, stimulated the business decisions towards opening their first production quarry in the Ghisalba municipality (1974).

The offices were initially located in the historical site of the company in Via Cossali.
When it opened its first quarry, the company significantly extended its business. Together with its main mining business, in fact, it branced off in the fields of excavation, demolition, earthmoving, reclamation, leveling and construction excavation.
Its ever-growing range of business ventures led the company to start a first transformation of the company from sole proprietorship to general partnership (1977).

The new frontier of the company
In 1987, in order to better reflect the company’s organization, which had become increasingly complex and structured, the owners decided to transform it from general partnership to joint stock company.
In the short span of a few years, they added to their original business the production and marketing of concrete (1991), starting up a plant in the Portico Nuovo hamlet of the Ghisalba municipality.
Soon after, in 1992, it also added CO.M.E. Srl, a spinoff of the company, specialized in the marketing of building materials, to supply to contractors and logistics.
